Parents and guardians
Questions from parents
What age is GenKid for?
Roughly 9 to 18. Learners are placed by what they can already do, not by age. Younger learners can switch on simpler explanations and larger text.
Who owns the account?
A parent or guardian creates the family account, adds learners with usernames, and manages plans and seats. Learners don't need an email address.
Does my child need to install anything or pay for AI tools?
No. Everything in the early stages runs inside GenKid. The AI helper is provided by GenKid with daily fair-use limits. Learners never need their own AI provider account or API key.
What about the professional tools in later stages?
Later courses explain tools such as GitHub, Vercel, Supabase, Stripe test mode, Claude Code and OpenAI Codex. Each has its own age rules. Where a tool requires an adult, we use a sandbox demonstration or a setup you guide. We never ask learners to enter payment details or sign up against a provider's rules.
Can my child chat with other people?
No. There's no messaging, public profile, leaderboard or social sharing in GenKid.
Can I see progress?
Yes. The family dashboard shows each learner's courses, completed lessons, projects and skills.
Will GenKid get my child a job or qualification?
We don't promise that. GenKid aims to build strong practical skills and a portfolio of projects your child understands.
Can we delete our data?
Yes. You can remove a learner and their data from the family dashboard, and download or delete all of your family's data from Your data. You can also email hello@genkid.app.
