Terms of Service
Last updated · Effective
These terms are the agreement between you and SEQUEL AI LTD for using GenKid. Please read them with our Privacy Policy.
1. About these terms
GenKid (genkid.app) is provided by SEQUEL AI LTD ("we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales with company number 16897137, registered office 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom. You can contact us at hello@genkid.app.
"You" means the adult who opens and manages the account (the account holder). "Learner" means a young person who uses GenKid through a login you create. By creating an account you agree to these terms on your own behalf and agree to make sure your learners follow the rules that apply to them.
2. Who can use GenKid
- You must be 18 or over to open an account. You must be the parent or legal guardian of the learners you add, or, for a group account, have any permission needed from their parents or your organisation (such as a school or club).
- GenKid is designed for learners aged about 9 to 18. Learners may only use GenKid through a login created by their account holder, and with that adult’s supervision appropriate to their age.
- You must give accurate information, including the country where you live, because the rules we apply (such as consent ages) depend on it.
3. Accounts and learner logins
- You can sign up with an email and password or with Google. Learner logins use a username and password only. Please don’t use a child’s real full name in a username.
- Keep passwords secret. Each login is for one person: don’t share logins between learners or with anyone else. Tell us straight away at hello@genkid.app if you think a login has been misused.
- You are responsible for activity on your account and your learners’ logins, for choosing which features (such as the AI helper) your learners may use, and for the settings you choose.
- You can see your learners’ progress and projects. Please let your learners know this.
4. Plans and prices
GenKid has a free plan that includes the first courses, and paid plans that unlock more courses and features. What each plan includes, and the current prices, are shown on our pricing page. On the date at the top of these terms, monthly prices are:
| Plan | Price per month |
|---|---|
| Explorer | £8 |
| Builder | £14 |
| Family (4 learners included, up to 6) | £24 |
| Group | £5 per seat |
- Annual plans cost 10 times the monthly price, paid in advance.
- Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where it applies. If you pay from outside the UK, the checkout may show the price in your local currency; your bank may also charge conversion fees. Local taxes are calculated at checkout.
- We may change prices. We’ll tell you at least 30 days before a new price applies to your subscription, and it will apply from your next renewal after that. If you don’t want to pay the new price, you can cancel before it applies.
- Plan features, including AI fair-use limits, may change over time as described in section 13.
5. Free trial
- Paid plans start with a 7-day free trial. We take your card details at checkout, but the first charge is made only when the trial ends.
- To pay nothing, cancel before the trial ends in the billing portal (Family → Plans & seats → Manage billing).
- If you don’t cancel, your subscription starts automatically when the trial ends and you’ll be charged the plan price.
- We may limit free trials to one per household or payment method.
6. Payment and renewal
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe’s own terms also apply to payment processing.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each monthly or annual period, and we charge the payment method on file, until you cancel.
- If a payment fails, we or Stripe may try again and ask you to update your details. If payment still isn’t made, we may move your account to the free plan. Your learners’ work is kept.
- You can see your plan, invoices and payment method in the billing portal at any time.
7. Cancelling and refunds
- Cancel anytime in the billing portal (Family → Plans & seats → Manage billing), or by emailing hello@genkid.app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period: you keep paid features until then, and you won’t be charged again. Your account then moves to the free plan; it isn’t deleted unless you delete it.
- 14-day refund promise. If you cancel within 14 days of your first paid charge (the first charge after any free trial), email hello@genkid.app and we’ll refund that charge in full. This is our promise, and it also covers your legal right to cancel a digital service within 14 days under UK and EU consumer law.
- Apart from that, and from your legal rights described below, payments for a period that has started are not refundable, and we don’t give partial refunds for unused time.
- If GenKid is faulty or not as described, you have legal rights (in the UK, under the Consumer Rights Act 2015). Nothing in these terms affects them. Tell us and we’ll put things right, which may include a repair, a replacement or a refund.
- Refunds go back to the original payment method.
8. Acceptable use
GenKid is a learning space for young people. You and your learners must not:
- create, upload or ask the AI for content that is harmful, sexual, violent, hateful, bullying, illegal or dangerous, or that infringes someone else’s rights;
- put personal information (yours or anyone else’s) into projects or AI questions, such as full names, addresses, phone numbers, schools or photos;
- try to escape or break the code sandbox, get around safety filters or usage limits, access other people’s accounts or data, or probe, scan or attack GenKid or the services it uses;
- use GenKid to write or spread malware, spam or phishing, or to send requests to other systems without permission;
- share logins, sell or resell access, or let more learners use a plan than it allows;
- copy GenKid’s courses in bulk, scrape the site, or use automated tools to access it, except as our features allow;
- use the AI features in a way that breaks the AI provider’s usage rules (we’ll explain these where relevant).
Please report anything worrying to hello@genkid.app. If a child is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services.
9. Learners’ work
- Learners own the code and projects they create. Code from our lesson starter files and examples remains ours, but learners may use it in their own projects.
- So that we can run GenKid, you give us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, display to the learner and their account holder, and process learners’ work (including sending it to the AI model when a learner asks for help). This licence is only for providing GenKid and ends when the work is deleted, except for copies in backups that are overwritten in the normal way.
- We never publish learners’ work. There is no public sharing inside GenKid. Learners can download their own projects.
- AI-generated suggestions a learner accepts into their project become part of their work; see section 10.
10. AI helper and coding agent
- AI features are tools for learning. AI answers can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. They are clearly labelled as AI-generated. Learners should test code and check important facts, and an adult should help with anything that matters.
- The AI helper is not a person and is not a source of professional, medical, legal or safety advice.
- We use safety filters and limits, but no filter is perfect. Please tell us if you see something inappropriate.
- AI features have daily fair-use limits that depend on your plan. We may pause AI features for safety, cost or technical reasons; lessons and the workspace keep working.
- If you add your own AI provider key, you are responsible for complying with that provider’s terms (including its age rules), and for any charges it makes. We store the key encrypted and use it only for your household.
- How AI requests are handled, and where they go, is explained in our Privacy Policy.
11. Third-party tools in lessons
- Some lessons explain professional tools and services made by other companies (such as code hosting, deployment or AI coding tools). GenKid is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by those companies. Their names and trademarks belong to them.
- Each tool has its own terms and age rules. GenKid never asks learners to sign up for these tools or to enter payment details. Whether a learner uses one is a decision for their parent or guardian. Where a tool needs an adult account, lessons use a demonstration or an adult-guided setup.
- We aren’t responsible for third-party tools or websites, which can change. Your use of them is under their own terms.
12. Our content
GenKid’s courses, lessons, text, graphics, software and brand belong to us or our licensors. Your plan gives you and your learners a personal, non-transferable right to use them for learning. Group accounts may use them to teach the learners on the account. You may not copy, sell or republish our content except as these terms allow.
13. Availability and changes
- We work to keep GenKid available and secure, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may need to pause it for maintenance, updates or reasons outside our control.
- We regularly update GenKid: we may add, change or remove courses, lessons and features, for example to keep content accurate and safe. If we make a change that significantly reduces what your paid plan includes, we’ll tell you in advance and you can cancel; if you cancel for this reason, we’ll refund any amount paid for the period after the change.
- If we ever close GenKid, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice where possible, refund any unused prepaid amounts, and give you time to download your data.
14. Suspension and closing accounts
- You can delete a learner or your whole account at any time (Family → Your data). Please cancel any paid subscription first.
- We may suspend or restrict a login or account if we reasonably believe these terms have been seriously broken, a child’s safety is at risk, payment isn’t made, or we must do so by law. Where it’s safe and lawful, we’ll tell you why and give you a chance to respond.
- If we close your account because you seriously broke these terms, we won’t refund the current period. If we close it for any other reason, we’ll refund any unused prepaid amount.
15. Our responsibility to you
- We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We aren’t responsible for loss that isn’t foreseeable.
- Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including your rights as a consumer.
- If digital content we supply damages a device or other digital content belonging to you because we didn’t use reasonable care and skill, we’ll either repair the damage or pay you compensation. We aren’t responsible for damage you could have avoided by following our advice, such as installing updates.
- GenKid is for domestic and private learning use. If you use it for a business, school or other organisation (for example a group account), we aren’t liable for loss of profit, business or opportunity, and our total liability to you in any 12 months is limited to the greater of £100 and the amount you paid us in those 12 months.
- We aren’t responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.
16. Privacy
How we handle personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy, our privacy page for kids and our Cookie Policy.
17. Complaints, law and disputes
- If you’re unhappy, please contact us first at hello@genkid.app or through our contact form. We’ll acknowledge complaints within 30 days at the latest and try to resolve them quickly.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
- If you’re a consumer living outside the UK, you keep the protection of any mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may be able to bring proceedings in your local courts.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example to reflect changes to GenKid or the law. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change materially affects you, we’ll tell you by email or in GenKid at least 30 days before it takes effect (unless it’s needed sooner for legal or safety reasons). If you don’t agree, you can cancel before the change applies; if you keep using GenKid after that, the new terms apply.
19. General
- We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation; we’ll tell you, and it won’t reduce your rights. You may not transfer your account without our agreement.
- If a court decides that part of these terms is invalid, the rest still applies.
- If we don’t enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- These terms are between you and us. No one else has rights under them.
