Your privacy on GenKid
Last updated
This page explains what happens to your information, in plain words. Grown-ups can read the full Privacy Policy.
Who is GenKid?
GenKid is run by a small company in London called SEQUEL AI LTD. We are in charge of looking after your information and keeping it safe.
What does GenKid know about me?
Your username, the name you chose to show in GenKid, your password (scrambled so nobody can read it — not even us), and roughly how old you are, like 11–12. We don’t ask for your real full name, birthday, school, address, email or photo.
What do you save?
Your projects, which lessons you’ve finished, your quiz and check scores, and the skills you’ve shown. That’s so you can carry on where you left off. We also save your settings, like bigger text.
Who can see my work?
You, and the grown-up who made your account (your parent, guardian or group leader). They can see your progress and projects. Other learners can’t, and nothing is ever made public. There are no public profiles, chats or leaderboards.
Where do my AI helper questions go?
Your question goes to GenKid first. We check it, then send it to a company that runs the AI model. Usually that’s a company called DeepSeek, whose computers are in China. Sometimes it’s a different company, if your family or GenKid picked one. We never send your name or username with it.
Do you save what I type to the AI helper?
No, we don’t keep your chats. We only count how many questions you ask each day. Some questions are asked by lots of people, so we save the question and its answer to share with everyone. When we do that, we don’t save who asked.
What if I type something personal by mistake?
If you type things like an email, phone number, address or the name of your school, the AI helper stops and doesn’t send it. It will ask you to take it out. Never put personal details in your questions or projects.
What if I’m upset or worried?
If you type something that sounds like you might be unsafe or upset, the AI helper stops and tells you who can help. GenKid's safety team gets a short note that this happened (not your words), so a grown-up can check you're OK. That might mean we talk to your parent or guardian. Please tell a trusted adult. In the UK you can call Childline for free on 0800 1111. If you're in danger right now, call 999 (or your country's emergency number).
Do you show me adverts or track me?
No. There are no adverts on GenKid, we don’t sell your information, and we don’t follow what you do on other websites. We only use cookies (tiny files in your browser) to keep you signed in and remember your settings.
Can I see or delete my stuff?
Yes. Ask your parent or guardian. They can download a copy of everything, or delete your account and everything in it. You can download your own projects too.
Can I ask GenKid a question?
Yes! Ask a grown-up to help you use our contact page, or email hello@genkid.app. Please don't include personal details. If you think we've got something wrong, you or your grown-up can also tell the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), which makes sure companies look after people's information properly.
